Meditation - The other way |
|
Modern man is in search of something which he feels missing in the midst of all the outer riches, comforts of the modern science in almost al parts of life. Modern man called modern because he has added much comforts in his outer life or external life. Inspite of all that his inner life is poorest which he tries to fill with the outer riches and miserably fails. Man trying to fill the inner poverty by possessing more and more of the outer goods without any success.
Not knowing how to remove this inner poverty man steps his foot into religion, philosophy, Yoga, Tantra, Bhakti and so on. He finds all religion are heavily conditioned and burdened with morality, code of ethics and so on. As soon as he begin following the religion he find a gap between what the religion says to follow (a particular belief) and his behavior and he struggles between belief and behavior. He feels it impossible to alter his behavior and at the end frustration results.
There is a continuous movement in life. Life is eternal because of its natural movement in time. Mind feels that this natural movement of life in time is not the correct in which he can build his palace of pleasure. So it projects a psychological time in which man wants to fulfill his desires, wants and ambitions. But it is not possible and time becomes enemy. Modern man goes on fighting to win the time but at last he finds it is self-defeating. He desires that this natural flow of time should synchronize with the psychological flow of time. It is the natural flow of time in which the man's becoming lies and develop as when he wants time should go fast it seems slow and vice-versa.
Human mind which has created this psychological time asks to fight the natural flow of time and this fight goes on and at the last he finds it is self-defeating. And at last he surrenders on a hope that this psychological time will win the natural flow of time in future but future never comes, as when future comes, time changes every situation, circumstances and new challenges. So the mind employs two ways - the way of struggle which end in self-defeat and the way of submission to future that never comes. Mind swings in these two alternatives and it does not know any other way so it cannot find the solution to the problem man is facing today. Mind continues to move in opposites till death.
The mind moves between the opposites. Mind does not exist beyond opposites. The struggle and submission are thoughts of one or the other. Thought moves in opposites. An active mind set the opposites while dealing with problems of life and existence and is known as successful man, i.e., executive, professional etc. who are having all riches of life. But a dull mind does not see the opposites. Is there any other way beyond struggle and submission to deal with the situations of life?
There is another way to deal with the problems of life but this cannot be expressed in words. If it is expressed the words would come, thoughts would come and opposites will again make their existence and man will fall again in the same vicious circle and mind will find continuity.
This way is the way of experience, way of non-verbal experience. So break in thought process is essential to find this way even for a moment or long interval.
And the other way that is break in the continuity of thought is way of Meditation. Meditation is beyond the realm of mind, beyond opposites, beyond thought and thinking.
If experiences the state beyond thoughts and thinking a new state to face the situations and problems of life then only this inner and outer harmony can be established and baffling problems of not only one individual but the entire humanity facing today can be eliminated.
Man must explore meditation for his psychological survival, happiness and for evolution to be compressed in one life.
