Vaastu initially was confined to experts of buildings for which few manuscripts were also written. The mythological scripture, Matsya Purana, explains seventeen preceptors of Vaastu. Indian historians believe that the first official treatise on Vaastu, entitled “the Kasyapa Silpa”, was written by Sage Kasyapa. According to the ancient wisdoms of India, there had been the eighteen originators, teachers and preachers of Vaastu Sastra of which important ones are: Brahma, Narada Brihaspati, Bhrigu, Vashishtha, Vishwakarma, Nandish, Nagnajita, Vishalaksha, and Vasudev.
Vaastu is a word derived from “Vastoshpati” written in Rig Veda meant to provide protection, happiness and prosperity in this life as well as after death
Rig Veda says, “Oh God of structures and building, we are your devotees. Listen our prayer, make us free of disease, give wealth and prosperity, and help the well being of all persons and animals living in the house.” |
